Business Architecture
13th May 2007
Aperia have worked with six authorities in Cumbria to help them gain a significant insight into their processes utilising Aperia's "ground breaking" local government business architecture.
Aperia worked with the Connected Cumbria Partnership authorities to gain a common understanding of their organisations. The output from this project will inform both the shared service element of the transformation strategy and the internal efficiency drive of each authority.
The Business Architecture model focuses on the essential things that the organisation has to do leaving the design of how they are done as a local decision. The architecture uses a common language to provide a management tool that will enable a holistic view of;
• the organisation,
• the work it undertakes,
• the roles that undertake it
• provides a framework against which to consistently apply the cost to serve for any given service.
Using this architecture an authority can identify areas of duplication of function, activity or subject matter and record an information profile. This single view of the organisation will enable senior managers to make informed decisions about how to enable better use of resources and deliver a greater focus on customer needs.
